However, Musk added that he won’t be leaving his CEO role at Twitter without first ironing out some kinks, ensuring that it is in a “financially healthy place” as well as clearly laying out its product road map. He believes that the company should be in a stable position by the end of 2023. This isn’t the first time that the billionaire stated that he intends to resign as the social media giant’s CEO. Back on 21 December of last year, Musk tweeted that he would step down as soon as he finds “someone foolish enough to take the job” and even ran a poll on the platform, asking his followers and Twitter users alike whether he should renounce his position. And probably to no one’s surprise, a majority who participated voted “Yes.”

In the same tweet mentioned above, the billionaire says he will still stick around in Twitter to “run the software and server teams.” Past and current noise aside, sources told Bloomberg that Musk’s planned exit is also caused by the lack of his presence at Tesla, which is making some investors nervous. Despite this, he claimed that the electric car company as well as SpaceX (both companies which he also owns) actually require less work to operate when compared to three to five years ago.
