On Twitter, Nothing CEO Carl Pei said that users of the Nothing Phone (1) will be getting the Nothing OS 2.0 update by the end of August. That’s less than two months after the launch of the Nothing Phone (2), assuming the company can keep to the promised timeline. Which is commendable, and in more ways than one.
— Carl Pei (@getpeid) June 13, 2023 While phone makers continue to churn out new devices every few months, few have committed to keeping the software on their older devices up to date, minus Apple and iOS for iPhones, naturally. Among the Android phone makers, more and more are promising to provide more than two years of software and security updates, but it’s far from the norm. And these usually take awhile too, especially the further away a device is from its launch year. Nothing promising to give its first phone the update is nice, but not necessarily exciting. But the speed of its rollout, on the other hand, is worth noting. On the other hand, the company only has two phones to worry about, as well as three TWS buds. So it was probably easier for Nothing to fulfill its promise of three years of software updates compared to its older and larger competitors. Either way, it’s good news for owners of the Nothing Phone (1). (Source: Carl Pei / Twitter)
